What type of work do you create as an artist?

My work is a mix of abstraction and portraiture. I use aerosol, oils, paper, and acrylic and whatever I can really get my hands on. I paint faces. But they aren’t faces they are just masks. I like to think they are different expressions of my/our life; Emotional facades that reveal or veil aspects of the human condition. We all have guards that we use to protect ourselves from being vulnerable. My work is a dialogue of these guards.

What was the main thing that you had to go through to get you to where you are at now as an artist?

The process has driven me—to really see how far I can push an idea— and how I express that present moment, while on this fucked up ride. As long as I am on this ride that is what the drive will be: Life. And Life is motion. Expression is expressing the emotion we get from it.
Sometimes it scares me how far I push the concept because it can be worked to the point of no return. But for me, it’s about transformation and adapting to the present moment.

What is the main thing that you try to achieve with your work?

I would like to think that I can make a person feel some type of emotion, making some kind of connection. It would be nice to for one second share the enjoyment and happiness, suffering and hardship, pain or joy with another. Is that what we do here? Are we just here to share, to love, connect? I like to think that. On the other hand I would like to achieve some sort of clarity in my work that I don’t quite know yet. I think it’s more of what I have now. Or less. I would like to keep making mistakes and find new ways of thinking. It is also a big interest of mine to work with communities locally and abroad using my skills as a positive resource giving a voice to the disadvantaged.

What does being ‘unbound as an artist’ mean to you?

Don’t let people control your mind. You are eternal.

Where can we find your work online, and where can we see your work displayed next?

Would you like to add anything else?

What do we leave when we go? Who is going to clean your shit? Ask questions. Listen. Know history. Play. Be good. Be daring and don’t let people tell you what to do. Rules suck. The best style is no style.
