Flips BSC is a Toronto-based artist that is out to promote unity and positivity through his art. It even reflects in his personality – his demeanour is humble and approachable. Few words can describe his work better than experiencing it for yourself, so I encourage you to take a look and reflect on them!
What type of work do you create as an artist? (Mediums, styles…)
My medium is anything that I can put art on. On top of painting I also do graphic design and tattoos.
What was the main thing that you had to go through to get you to where you are at now as an artist?
A lot of hard work. A lot of hours in the shop making cool things. It’s not so much that I’ve already arrived, it’s that I’m still getting there. I think it’s all one journey and you just keep following it. It’s more-so a beautiful progression than an endgame.
What is the main thing that you try to achieve with your work?
My philosophy is that of my crew:
BSC (Blurred Sight Cleared) is a philosophy/lifestyle that uses the urban arts as a tool to promote unity amongst the local and global community. Built from an ever-expanding team of artists, the BSC crew seeks to transform the public’s perception of art into something that is lived on the daily, brightening existence with style, flavor and thought. Founded in Toronto, the Blurred Sight Cleared philosophy mirrors the diverse and eccentric community of the city, welcoming all who want to join in the celebration of our growing world-culture. The idea behind having ones “blurred sight cleared,” refers to the gaining awareness of the beauty and potential that exists in their environment. It is the acceptance of talent from across the globe, coming together to create and share in each other’s positivity. Thus, the BSC lifestyle revolves around facilitating positive experiences in order to unite the public and strengthen the community.
What does being ‘unbound as an artist’ mean to you?
Putting art on anything.
Where can we find your work online, and where can we see your work displayed next?
And on the streets.
Would you like to add anything else?
Toronto is an undefined city. Its up to the creatives who have come here and grown up here to put an image to it. Especially on the urban arts sector, we need more teamwork to achieve this goal. Let’s get it Toronto!
