Erik Flowchild returns to The Alley and we know it’s going to be a problem. The Brampton native, currently living in Toronto keeps his material authentic, raw and delivers a live show that is literally bone chilling. Last year he brought the house down with his performance at The Alley IV. The most exciting thing about having him back is wondering whether he will top it or not? Get to know more about Erik Flowchild in our interview below.
1. Introduce yourself and tell us why you make music?
I’m Erik Flowchild and Hip-hop set me free.
2. What has had the greatest influence on your art?
Lately it’s been my ever-evolving understanding of life has taken the wheel in terms of my artistic direction. I’m very interested in the essence of things. The “normal” life we live doesn’t really give us a chance to explore our true selves, but my music has given me a chance to stay connected to that journey.
3. What are your thoughts on the Toronto Music Scene and where do you stand as a young artist?
Toronto is full of talented artists. It’s also full of consumers. For some reason we haven’t bridged the gap between our local artists and our potential market but I intend to shed more light on what’s really happening as I gain more clout.
4. Why should people come see you at The Alley, what should they expect?
I’m known to take my live show pretty seriously but I’m just there to be a part of the energy really. A show like The Alley is give and take so let’s all just have a good time. My story is evolving and I’m just excited to share that with the people.
5.Tell us more about your latest release?
I just released the Child’s Play EP – a follow up to the Child’s Play LP that I put out last year. The project is really just a way to exhibit where I currently stand as an artist and a producer. It’s short and sweet but the messages in there are definitely some of my strongest. Visuals coming soon.
