A photographer who has simply found talent in expressing herself. Helen wants to grow through her art and believes that creative women still don’t get the recognition they deserve. Show your support for female creatives by coming out to VIRTUE – a female creative exhibit on September 13th at Studio 1176.
Learn more about Helen and her virtue in our Q&A below.
What inspires you to create?
“Self-expression. I try to make sense of my photos whenever I shoot. I feel like a lot of things in this world is over saturated with the same concepts that we’re missing the bigger picture.”
How do you think creative women are perceived in the industry?
“Creative women are slept on. There’s this notion of working ten times harder to be seen in this a male-driven industry. We’re always trying to compete meanwhile men are always down for each other and the support system is crazy compared to women. Of course it’s a working progress, slowly but surely we’ll rise up.”
How do you perceive feminism?
“I see it as equality for all. Creating without any boundaries, any gender classification, and restrictions.”
Where do you wish to take your art in the future?
“I don’t know to be honest, photography is one of those things you know will just live with you eternally. Going with the flow type thing. I just want to continue to create, build, and grow from this.”
