Toronto Photographer Setti Kidane Celebrates Black Women with ‘12 Months of Melanin’ Photo Calendar

A calendar filled with Queens.

Toronto based photographer Setti Kidane celebrates black women through a calendar of marvellous melanin. The 12mm series explores the many layers of black womanhood, inviting viewers to expand their understanding of beauty and power. Setti uses her photography to explore the multidimensionality of black women.

Now this is something I definitely like to hang on my wall, compared to my basic nature calendars I’m used to.

The photos draw you in. Each image has a narrative which is intriguing and casting them all in black and white is powerful through its vulnerability. I look forward to seeing which month matches what image.
