CGB, (Can’t Go Broke) a rapper based out of Vancouver, just released his Full EP “Homegrown”, a 5 track EP with production from Moét, E Haynes, Cubez & GoldSoul with executive production by Cubez, Moét and CGB as well.
The beginning of the EP starts off with a voice mail from his mother of how proud she is of him, and he then makes an announcement of the rapper Mick Jenkins being on a track which gets you excited to listen to the EP. He touches base on his friends doing too much drugs, his mother recovering from throat cancer, only getting income from his paintings, his ex-girlfriend and loosing a homie to drugs. Throughout this EP you can feel the struggle, pain and experiences he has gone through in life.
He also has two impressive features from Moka Only, (a member from swollen members) and Mick Jenkins. Moka and CGB speak on success, being yourself and in the track “Test Me” ft. Mick Jenkins, it’s about testing his patience, being blessed and how cats are on bullshit, while CGB states he’s just looking out for his family and couldn’t care about his sanity.
The EP to him was the next step in his growth which is important to him not only as an artist, but as a person. Overall, the EP not only has amazing production, rhymes and features, it shows a glimpse into CGB’s life and can be related by many others.
