They added too much praise to our foundation.

When we were young,

The World was just done its war,

But right before,

Our riches turned to dust,

We fell in love with what the world left for us,

It was nothing but bitter lust and broken trust.

We then started to lose interest,

In saving the World,

And waited till all was said and done,

Before we poked our necks out of our rabbit hole,

We were scared to go,

Into the darkness and take control.

We were raised together,

Not the same neighborhood,

But the same generation,

Taught the same things,

And bought the same things,

But society stretched our minds differently.

They added too much praise to our foundation,

Told us to fight fire with our fire,

Told us our souls were too pure,

Told us our souls were on fire,

Told us our fire was not enough,

Misleading messages quenched our thirst for justice.

We no longer roam the streets like we use to,

Looking for dying souls who need a little more,

Than just a helping hand,

Or a standing ovation,

Or an aroma of cheap thrills,

We’re still looking for what’s real.

I looked, to find my reflection, but all I could see was myself in two different mirrors

Youth is not something that can be called back,

Like a yo-yo,

Or a photo,

So hold your peace while you go through it,

 Standing strong on broken rocks,

Or whatever rocks your broken soul.

Our simple minds now turn,

To double-edged swords,

Reflecting back our captives,

I looked,

To find my reflection,

But all I could see was myself in two different mirrors

Stop, for the solider in the middle!

Life will remain a battle for the fittest,

After all,

It’s only he that endures till the end,

That shall be saved,

Till then, carry on and stay safe.

Stop, for the solider in the middle!
